According to some you can't marry after 40. Character death of old age is a limit. But if you will have spouce/children you will continue as them. Maybe also as companions. There was a main quest 10y limit for completing it, if you didn't you couldnt create your own kingdom, but I think that's fixed in recent patch.
Apparently you can't marry if your 39 or older. Usually if you meet a potential spouse, there's a dialogue option where you declare yourself an admirer, followed by one or two Persuasion challenges. After that you can go to the father or your future wife, make a Barter, and that's that. Will usually cost around 5k.
